Ian and David Cahill opened the doors for business at the onset of the millennium supplying steelwork to local builders, farmers and members of the public. As sole traders within the first year the business reached a turnover of £500k.
In the year 2005 the company became incorporated and their focus moved to larger steelwork projects. Since that date the company has steadily grown working on the principle of providing a proactive approach to their clients and generating the type of repeat business that promoted the company’s continual growth.
By the end of the company’s first decade of trading, it’s ‘bread and butter’ work was predominantly steel frames in the region of 10 to 150 tonnes with the odd project that could reach a thousand tonnes.
For their second decade the company’s targets changed to focus more on larger contracts with blue chip clients. To help achieve this, staff familiar with the larger project size have been recruited to enhance the existing management structure.
In 2014 further production capacity space was taken in Yeovil under the auspices of DMI Steel Fabrications. This was followed by the acquisition of PDF Erection Services in 2017, a long standing and trusted steelwork erection company, to add further strength to the site aspect of the business.
The PDF business has now been amalgamated within Cahill.
Today the company operates throughout the UK in all the major construction sectors with typical projects ranging from 25 up to 2000 tonnes of steelwork and has over 85 employees working together to produce and deliver these projects. As an ISO 9001:2015 and UKCA marked EXC Class 2 accredited company we are continuously striving for improvement in all aspects through the supportive development of our people through ongoing internal and external training.
